Auto Insurance – Time to Re-evaluate?

As we are rapidly approaching the new year, it usually makes sense to take some time and have a good hard look at your finances. This is a prime opportunity to look and see if you can save some money in various areas of your finances. Insurance is a good place to start, particularly auto insurance.

A lot of people, including myself, don’t pay much attention to auto insurance once you get that first policy. You might change addresses if you move, or update the policy when you buy a new car, but you usually don’t give much thought on how you might save money on your insurance. If you’re like me, you figure that you are getting the best price simply because you’ve been with the same insurance company for 10 years or longer. Well, that might not be the case…

I recently had my eyes opened to this issue when I was speaking to my home owners insurance agent and she told me how I could save money by getting a combined policy. The savings amounted to about $100 per month! I don’t know about you, but that’s a significant amount of money in my monthly budget! Needless to say I was happy to switch.

If you’re a homeowner, you might just find it worth your while to give your homeowners insurance agent a call and see if the same deal is available to you. If you’re not a homeowner, you may still want to do some investigating and see if you can’t find a way to lower your premiums. Getting a number of automobile insurance quotes from several different companies will tell you whether you can save some money or not.
